The Engineers, improved to 7-4-1 overall and 1-2-1 in the NEWMAC with a 1-0 triumph Saturday over Babson College.

The Engineers will return to the pitch next Saturday, Oct. 20, when they will play their fourth straight road game, at NEWMAC foe Springfield College.

On Thursday, October 12, 2007, MIT Soccer recorded a 5-2 victory over Johnson and Wales University in Providence, RI. The result pushed MIT’s overall record to 6-4-1 and meant that the squad equaled its 2006 win-total with still four games to play in the regular season.

MIT’s next match, in Babson Park, MA, pits the Engineers with conference foe Babson College at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13.

In the first ever soccer match between two schools that are separated by a mere two miles, MIT wins over Emmanuel. Lance Wall scored his first intercollegiate goal in the 49th minute, helping the Engineers remain undefeated at home.

Lance’s MIT Engineers finished 19th overall while Ashley’s Brown Bears ranked 22nd overall on the Collegiate Power Rankings from NCSA. The Power Rankings are calculated for each college/university at the NCAA Division I, II and III levels by averaging the U.S. Sports Academy Directors’ Cup ranking, the NCAA student-athlete graduation rate of each college/university and the U.S. News & World Report ranking.

The Engineers finished 6th in the Division III rankings and first within the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference. Check out the entire rankings at the NCSA website.
